Convolvulus arvensis (Morning Glory)

LOCATION: STOCKPORT

This Morning Glory was growing underneath the Stockport Viaduct covering a large area with its wide spread stems. Morning Glory is a very fast growing, easily transported plant that grows its roots deep in the ground up to 5m which creates a problem of eradicating it when needed. It often grows in abandoned areas.

Convolvulus arvensis has a large heart-shaped leaves and large white or pink trumpet flowers. Mature leaves at the base of the stem are larger than the young leaves at the stem terminal. It has flowers from summer to autumn but can be found creeping on the ground all year long.
